Azerbaijan is introducing hefty fines for social media providers. Under the new bill, companies that violate rules could be fined up to 50,000 manat.
The bill amends the Law "On Information, Informatization and Information Protection" and the Code of Administrative Offenses. The aim is to ensure children's safety.
Providers must protect accounts of users aged 16-18 with special security measures. Harmful content must be removed within 24 hours.
Fines range from 6,000-20,000 manat for not submitting data, 7,000-30,000 for not responding to inquiries, 8,000-40,000 for violating security measures, and 9,000-50,000 for repeated offenses.
The law will come into force 12 months after publication.
