Iran's police command (FARAJA) has released initial details of the car accident that killed Azerbaijani Consul Ramil Imranov in Tabriz.
The incident occurred on Saturday afternoon near Marand. The KIA Sportage with diplomatic plates collided with a concrete mixer truck.
Police chief Ahmad Karimi Asad stated that only Ramil Imranov was in the car and died at the scene. Initial investigations show the driver failed to react effectively and no brake marks were found.
The preliminary cause of the accident is reported as "driver's failure to pay sufficient attention to the road." Authorities are also investigating whether the driver suffered a health issue before the crash.
