Baku TV has prepared a report about the only scorpion farm in the country, located in the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic.
Here, scorpions are raised using special methods, and their venom is collected in a laboratory setting for sale.
Bayram Babayev, a farm worker, said that milking is done every 15-17 days to obtain venom.
"Their food is mealworms, which we also breed ourselves. The temperature must be 26 degrees, regardless of summer or winter. Scorpions like to stay in the dark, and they are collected from the Nakhchivan region," he said.
It should be noted that scorpions are mainly raised for venom, which is considered an extremely valuable raw material in medicine and cosmetology. Scorpion venom has strong analgesic, antibiotic, and anticancer properties. According to reports, the market price of one liter of scorpion venom is approximately $10 million.
