Baku May Rainfall Breaks Record

Baku and Absheron record highest May rainfall in decades, with precipitation reaching 70-103 mm, 5 times above norm.

Baku and the Absheron Peninsula have recorded record-breaking rainfall for May, exceeding the long-term average by several times.

Currently, precipitation in the region ranges from 70 to 103 mm, which is 355-523% of the monthly norm.

In May 1963, Baku saw 106 mm of rain, 5.4 times the norm.

In 2010, daily rainfall was 29 mm (147% of norm), monthly 39 mm (200%). In 2024, daily was 20 mm (102%), monthly 33 mm (167%). In 2025, daily was just 6 mm (30%), monthly 9 mm (46%).
