On May 18 in Baku, with the participation of Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze, the protocol of the 41st meeting of the Coordination Council for the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars (BTK) railway project was signed.
The document confirms the completion and final acceptance of modernization works.
During the event, the joint venture BTKI Railways LLC, established by ADY and Marabda-Kartsaxi Railway LLC, began operations.
In 2024, ADY carried out modernization on the 184 km section of the line in Georgia. The project covered 13 stations, 55 bridges, 8 traction substations, 320 buildings and structures.
30.3 km of new railway was laid, and 153.1 km of existing track was rehabilitated. Annual freight capacity increased from 1 million to 5 million tons.
The modernization turns BTK into a key artery of the Middle Corridor, boosting competitiveness.
BTK now not only connects three cities but also creates a new balance in Eurasian logistics.
