Baku TV has produced a video highlighting the rich history of Amirjan village, formerly known as Khila, famous for its prominent figures.
Azerbaijan's renowned poet Tofig Bayram and People's Artist Sattar Bahlulzade were born here. They were buried in the village cemetery according to their wishes.
Residents say: "Sattar Bahlulzade and Tofig Bayram were close friends. They attended gatherings together and treated guests to Khila qutab."
The village name was changed in the 14th century. "A person named Amir Fakhruddin was a seyed and the amir of Hajj pilgrims. After his death, the village was named Amirjan in his honor," residents explained.
