Birthday of National Hero Igor Kshnyakin

Today marks the birthday of Azerbaijan's National Hero, aircraft captain Igor Kshnyakin. He was born in Baku in 1962.

Captain Kshnyakin heroically died on December 25, 2024, while commanding AZAL's Baku-Grozny flight. The plane was shot down in Russian airspace and crashed near Aktau.

He was buried on December 29, 2024, at the II Alley of Honor. By presidential decree, he was posthumously awarded the title of "National Hero of Azerbaijan".
