Russian doctor Olga Ulankina has revealed the causes of dry mouth.
According to her, one of the main reasons is excessive caffeine in the diet. Coffee and strong tea have a diuretic effect.
These drinks accelerate the removal of fluid through the kidneys. As a result, the total water volume in tissues temporarily decreases.
The doctor notes that caffeine intake and insufficient water consumption lead to dehydration. Salivary glands reduce saliva production.
This mechanism is temporary: after drinking water, saliva secretion returns to normal.
Ulankina added that mouth breathing during sleep and sleeping in a dry room also cause dry mouth.
To solve the problem, it is recommended to use a humidifier and practice nasal breathing.
