Dr. Anna Furqal, a therapist, warns that drinking cold water on an empty stomach can disrupt digestion and damage the stomach. She shared this with TASS agency.
According to her, cold water, especially ice water, can cause stomach spasms when consumed before breakfast. The body uses extra resources to warm the liquid, potentially harming the digestive process.
Regular morning cold water intake may also negatively affect tooth enamel. Dr. Furqal recommends drinking water at room temperature or heated to up to 40 degrees Celsius.
Healthy alternatives include mild green or black tea, herbal teas, and dried fruit compote.
