COP29, held in Baku, has spurred the creation of new bicycle routes and dedicated bus lanes in the capital, as well as the reconstruction of Khagani Park and the May 28 area.

According to Oxu.Az, this was stated by Anna Soave, head of the UN-Habitat office in Azerbaijan, during a conference at WUF13.

She noted that these projects demonstrate the feasibility of a people-centered urban planning approach in Baku and indicate a new urban direction.

Anna Soave believes that WUF13 can further strengthen this process. To achieve this, it is crucial to convert the forum's generated energy into long-term commitments.

She added that housing policy, mobility, climate adaptation, waste management, and public space organization should be managed as an integrated system.

The UN-Habitat official emphasized that urban planning is not only about infrastructure but also directly linked to public health and social well-being.
