The Cabinet of Ministers has approved the 'Rules for creating necessary living and activity conditions for persons with disabilities in the design of buildings and structures'.
The new regulations apply to the design, reconstruction, and major repairs of all new buildings and structures.
According to the rules, infrastructure facilities in settlements must be barrier-free for people with disabilities based on universal design principles.
Design solutions must ensure accessibility to service points, safe movement paths, timely evacuation, and quality information for disabled persons.
Parking spaces, adapted pedestrian paths, and recreation areas must be provided on land plots for disabled persons.
The width of pedestrian paths must be at least 2 m, and the width of external stair flights must be at least 1.35 m.
