Most cities worldwide are unprepared for risks including man-made disasters, natural calamities, conflicts, and climate change.
Oxu.Az reports that UNECE Deputy Executive Secretary Dmitri Mariyasin stated this at the 13th World Urban Forum.
He noted that earthquakes expose structural weaknesses in cities, revealing failures in housing, infrastructure, and land management systems.
Mariyasin emphasized that investing in resilience before a disaster is better than providing aid after it strikes.
