A driver in Baku has been sentenced for stealing approximately 11,000 manat from a Range Rover belonging to a businessman.
The incident occurred in Absheron district. The businessman had dinner at a restaurant and consumed alcohol before asking his acquaintance, Royal Abbasov, to drive him home in his Range Rover.
Investigation revealed that Abbasov stole 3,500 USD and 5,050 manat, totaling around 11,000 manat. He claimed he committed the theft to pay off his and his mother's debts.
During the trial, the victim stated that the damages were fully compensated and he had no complaints. The court sentenced Abbasov to 1 year, 5 months, and 26 days of restriction of liberty, to be served under electronic monitoring.
