The Caucasus Muslims Board (CMB) has issued a statement regarding the beginning of the holy month of Muharram.
According to Oxu.Az, the first day of Muharram corresponds to June 16, and Ashura to June 25.
The statement emphasizes that Ashura commemorates the martyrdom of Imam Hussein, a symbol of standing for justice.
The CMB reminds believers that self-harm, bloodletting, and similar acts during Muharram are prohibited by religion.
Ceremonies must be held only in mosques and shrines, in compliance with the law.
Sermons should promote love for the homeland and national values.
A blood donation campaign will be organized during Muharram.
