The State Fire Control Service of the Ministry of Emergency Situations (MES) conducted an inspection at a furniture workshop in Baku's Yasamal district.
Numerous violations were found:
- No automatic fire alarm system;
- No internal fire hydrants;
- Electrical wiring laid over flammable materials;
- Insufficient fire extinguishers, some expired;
- No ventilation in the painting room;
- No evacuation plan;
- Wood structures not treated with fire retardant;
- Use of non-standard heaters and metal stove;
- Workshop not cleaned of sawdust;
- Workers not trained in fire safety;
- Property not insured as required;
- Operation not approved by fire authorities.
The conditions posed a serious fire risk. MES ordered the immediate shutdown of the workshop.
