Today marks five years since AZERTAC correspondent Maharram Ibrahimov and AzTV operator Siraj Abishov were martyred.
On June 4, 2021, a KamAZ truck carrying journalists hit an anti-tank mine in Susuzluq village, Kalbajar. Ibrahimov, Abishov, and district official Arif Aliyev were killed; four others were injured.
Maharram Ibrahimov was born on April 16, 1982, in Ardanish village, Armenia. He joined AZERTAC in 2004 and was a frontline war correspondent. He is survived by a wife and two children. Posthumously, he was awarded the 3rd degree "For Service to the Motherland" order.
Siraj Abishov was born on August 29, 1989, in Gubadli. He started working at AzTV in 2019. He left behind one child. He was buried in Sumgayit Martyrs' Alley and also received the 3rd degree "For Service to the Motherland" order posthumously.
