A new chairman has been elected for the Sumgayit City Council of Elders.
According to Oxu.Az citing Ölkə.az, Eldar Ismayilov has been appointed to this position.
On June 22, the election conference of the Sumgayit City Council of Elders was held. The event was attended by the deputy chairman of the Azerbaijan Council of Elders, MP Professor Eldar Ibrahimov, the head of the Sumgayit City Executive Authority Zakir Farajov, the head of the Apparatus of the Azerbaijan Council of Elders Ramin Hasanli, press secretary Rafiq Rzayev, as well as city elders, intellectuals and members of the public.
Eldar Vakil oglu Ismayilov was born on January 25, 1949 in the village of Gaymagly, Gazakh district. In 1990, he was elected a deputy of the Supreme Soviet. In 1991-1992, he served as the head of the Sumgayit City Executive Authority. From 1999 to 2014, he was a member of the Sumgayit Municipality. Since 2014, he held the position of head of the department-apparatus manager at the Social Development Fund for Forced Displaced Persons.
He was awarded the "Shohrat" Order by decree of President Ilham Aliyev dated November 16, 2009.
It should be noted that the previous chairman, Tabrik Guliyev, resigned a few days ago.
