The Republican Center of Hygiene and Epidemiology under the Ministry of Health carries out extensive state control to ensure water safety and sanitary-epidemiological stability.
Lala Shirinova, a doctor-laboratory assistant at the Center's Sanitary-Hygiene, Physicochemical, Toxicological and Radiological Examination Laboratory, stated this on the "Healthy Morning" program of "Healthy Radio" (93 FM).
According to her, the Center's activities cover both drinking water supply and monitoring of sea water at beaches.
Laboratory monitoring of drinking water is conducted based on samples taken from centralized water supply systems, reservoirs, and modular treatment plants across the country.
The laboratories of the Republican Center of Hygiene and Epidemiology have been accredited by the Azerbaijan Accreditation Center.
Lala Shirinova noted that the examination of bacteriological, sanitary-chemical, and toxicological indicators is carried out in accordance with the requirements of the AZS ISO/IEC 17025 standard, using modern equipment. As a result, the obtained results are considered reliable and official both domestically and internationally.
"Our goal is to ensure full compliance of water quality indicators with existing standards. If any problem is detected, information is provided to the relevant authorities and appropriate measures are taken," she said.
