India plans municipal bonds for 100 cities

India plans to add 100 new cities to municipal bond issuance. HUDCO Chairman Sanjay Kulshrestha said at WUF13 that 22 cities have already issued bonds.

India is considering involving 100 more cities in issuing municipal bonds.

According to Oxu.Az citing Report, this was stated by Sanjay Kulshrestha, Chairman of the Housing and Urban Development Corporation (HUDCO), during a panel discussion at the 13th session of the World Urban Forum (WUF13) held in Baku.

He noted that currently 22 Indian cities have already issued municipal bonds. "The total volume of emissions has reached approximately one billion US dollars. In the future, it is planned to involve 100 more cities in this process," he emphasized.
