Khojasen Lake in Baku's Binagadi district has overflowed, submerging nearby homes and yards.
Residents report a sharp rise in water levels, attributing it to rainwater accumulation due to blocked natural flow.
Municipality officials state the main cause is insufficient capacity of the outflow channel towards Lokbatan Lake.
The State Water Resources Agency is laying an underground tunnel for a sewage line towards Shikhov, and constructing a treatment facility in Sakhil settlement. Treated water will be discharged into the Caspian Sea.
The municipality confirms ongoing construction works in the area have no connection to the overflow.
