Mirza Lachinov, head of the vehicle recycling department at "Clean City" OJSC, told journalists that every fifth car in the country does not meet environmental and safety standards.
He noted that four institutions (in Baku, Absheron, Sumgait, and Ganja) meeting the requirements for recycling activities have been registered and have started accepting vehicles whose service life has expired or are unfit for use.
According to the "State Program on Road Safety for 2019-2023," a vehicle recycling program has been developed, and amendments to more than 10 legislative acts have been made. In accordance with the Law "On Waste," measures have been taken to register recyclers.
An electronic portal has been launched to facilitate the submission of vehicles for recycling.
