In Azerbaijan, treatment for certain diseases is mandatory. Otherwise, fines or even imprisonment may be imposed.
According to the Code of Administrative Offenses, a person who knows they have a venereal disease and avoids treatment after being warned by a medical institution can be fined 100-150 manat.
Additionally, a person who has been in contact with someone with a venereal disease and needs examination but avoids it after warning can be fined 80-120 manat.
Concealing the source of infection by a person with a venereal disease results in a fine of 100-200 manat.
Under the Criminal Code, knowingly infecting another person with a venereal disease is punishable by a fine of 2500-5000 manat, correctional labor for up to 2 years, or imprisonment for up to 2 years. If the same act is committed against two or more persons or a minor, imprisonment for up to 4 years is stipulated.
