MP Kamal Jafarov proposed in parliament that the current penalty point limit be raised to 30. Currently, drivers lose their license for 6 months after accumulating 20 points.
He noted that since 2016, the number of point-based offenses has increased from 14 to 27, and the total points in the system from 54 to 91, but the limit has remained unchanged.
According to the MP, drivers now lose their license after accumulating only 22% of total possible points, compared to 37% in 2016. He considers the increase appropriate.
