On May 20, 2026, a group of Azerbaijani women dressed in national costumes walked through central Baku, organized jointly by the NGO Agency and the Mirza Alakbar Sabir Foundation.
The action, held as part of WUF13, was met with great interest by both locals and foreign guests.
Sevda Tahirli, chairwoman of the Mirza Alakbar Sabir Foundation and granddaughter of M.A. Sabir, stated that the walk followed the route: Maiden Tower - Old City - Natavan Monument - Seaside National Boulevard - Khagani Garden - Fountains Square - Sabir Monument.
She noted that the purpose was to promote national heritage and spark interest in national costumes and kelaghayi headscarves. Tahirli emphasized that organizing the event within WUF13 and on the eve of Independence Day carried special symbolic meaning.
