Work is underway to expand the territory of Absheron National Park and to bring new natural areas under protection.

Oxu.Az reports that Ecology and Natural Resources Minister Rashad Ismayilov said this in an interview with Trend.

The minister noted that the territory of Absheron National Park will include areas near the water basin, especially the coastal part of the Caspian Sea.

"Azerbaijan has 12 national parks. We have many reserves and sanctuaries. Managing these areas with different regimes is a very important issue. Expanding the area of our national parks serves to acquaint more people with nature and also increases the interest of foreign guests."

"We are constantly in contact with relevant ministries of various countries and hold bilateral meetings. They know the names and locations of our natural gems like Goygol well. During meetings with ambassadors in Azerbaijan, species of the animal world are compared with those in their countries, which contributes to attracting tourists. The ministry's goal is to increase the number and area of territories," the minister added.
