A new single-span bridge is being built on the M-2 Baku-Alyat-Qazakh-Georgia highway at the 55th kilometer, near Gobustan settlement, replacing a dilapidated bridge that was demolished.
The State Agency of Azerbaijan Automobile Roads (SAAAR) announced that piling works have been completed and construction of the bridge supports is underway.
The previous three-span bridge, built in the 1980s, was deemed unusable after a beam in the Baku direction fractured and collapsed.
