Insurance liability for car accidents will apply to the person behind the wheel, not the car owner.
Insurance expert Emil Aghababirov commented on the new rules, stating that the main difference lies in the calculation mechanism of the loss ratio.
According to Oxu.Az citing Khazar TV, previously insurance contracts were issued in the name of the car owner. Now this history will be calculated differently.
Under the new rules, the driver who caused the accident will pay approximately 30% more insurance premium the following year.
The second change concerns multiple authorized drivers for one car. Currently, citizens prefer to conclude an insurance contract in the name of the person with the highest bonus-malus level.
Note that the new rules for compulsory car insurance will come into effect on June 16.
