Baku is set to undergo new demolition and renovation projects in several areas as part of urban renewal.
The process follows Baku's General Plan until 2040.
Initially, the demolition of the construction materials market and surrounding commercial properties at the intersection of Heydar Aliyev Avenue and Ziya Bunyadov Avenue is planned.
Yasamal, Narimanov, Nasimi, Khatai, Sabunchu, Surakhani, and Binagadi districts are also considering renovation of old housing stock.
Renewal work has begun in the Bayil settlement, around Central Park, and near the Taza Pir Mosque. Landscaping projects are planned on Zargarpalan Street.
Expansion of Winter Park and its connection to Nizami Street is also on the agenda. A new tram line will be built on Jeyhun Hajibeyli Street.
Compensation amounts have increased to 2,700 manats for some projects. Valuers recommend individual property assessments.
