A driver in Baku claims he was fined despite not violating traffic rules.
According to Oxu.Az, the driver shared his story on social media.
The incident occurred on Aşıq Molla Cümə Street in the capital. The driver stated that although there were parking lines where he parked, he received a fine: "When I parked my car, the bus stop line was not visible. Other cars were parked on my right. The distance from my parking spot to the bus stop was about 30 meters."
He added that just one meter after the line ended, parking lines were drawn: "This creates a contradiction. On one hand, parking is allowed; on the other, a fine is imposed."
The Main State Traffic Police Department (BŞDYPİ) told Oxu.Az that the fine was legal. According to the department, stopping within 15 meters of marking line 1.17 (zigzag yellow line) is prohibited: "The footage shows the parking spot is not a legal parking area."
A query has been sent to the Azerbaijan Land Transport Agency (AYNA) regarding the confusing lines in a no-parking zone.
