Passengers can use barcode payment at stations where ADY's "SIMA Pay" face recognition system is not available.
This information was provided by "Azerbaijan Railways" CJSC in response to Oxu.Az's inquiry.
The agency answered the question: "If station A has 'SIMA Pay' but station B does not, how should passengers pay?"
"Passengers can pay with a barcode at stations without face recognition. The face recognition system is integrated into ADY's mobile app. Citizens can update the app to activate the function.
If station A has 'SIMA Pay', the passenger pays and enters the station. At the exit, if 'SIMA Pay' is not available, they must pay using the app's barcode.
Conversely, they can enter with a barcode payment and exit with face recognition. The barcode is activated when the balance is at least 2.40 manat."
It is noteworthy that today, for the first time in Azerbaijan's public transport, "SIMA Pay" face recognition payment system has been introduced on railways. Initially, it can be used at turnstiles at Baku Railway Station, Sumgait Railway Station, and Koroglu stop. In the next phase, the service is planned to be provided at all stations and stops along the Absheron circular route and across the country's railway network.
