Elnur Safarov, a senior researcher at ANAS, revealed that polluted air masses are moving towards Azerbaijan via the Caspian Sea. He stated that eastern winds from Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan carry polluted air to Azerbaijan.

This trend may cause the Northern Caspian to dry up, leading to dust and salt storms. Safarov emphasized that changes in atmospheric circulation increase environmental risks.
