Unstable weather and heavy rains in April-May caused serious damage to cherry orchards in the Quba region. Most of the ripening crop was destroyed on the trees.
One farmer said: "We spent a lot on medicine and care, but both our labor and money are lost. We used to harvest 100-120 kg of cherries per tree. Now it's hard to get even 15-20 kg."
Another farmer noted: "Neither local nor foreign varieties have any crop. May cherry is a thing of the past. Those who took loans struggle to repay. My loss alone is 20,000 manats. We didn't insure our orchards."
Experts advise farmers to insure their orchards on time to avoid such risks.
