Russian medical expert Yekaterina Demyanovskaya has stated that swimming is the most harmless and safe method for losing excess weight.

In an interview with "NEWS.ru", she noted that aqua aerobics exercises are also effective for burning extra calories.

"The problem of obesity must be approached with caution. Performing heavy exercises with a high body mass index can lead to joint injuries, cardiovascular complications, and aggravated shortness of breath," the expert emphasized.

Demyanovskaya recommends starting with aqua aerobics and swimming in the initial phase. She also mentioned that walking on flat terrain without any extra weight is beneficial.

"Two to three hours of total movement per week is enough. You can start with a daily 15-20 minute slow walk, provided the pulse does not exceed 110 beats per minute," she said.

Gradually increasing exercise duration can normalize lipid profiles and insulin sensitivity without overloading the heart muscle. Exercising in water reduces pressure on the spine and joints, lowers body weight load several times, and creates natural resistance for muscle development.
