On May 22, International Day for Biological Diversity, sturgeons were released into natural water basins in Neftchala.
According to Oxu.Az, the event was attended by Minister of Agriculture Majnun Mammadov, Deputy Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources Vugar Karimov, the Center for Fisheries and Aquaculture, IDEA Public Union, FAO, Neftchala District Executive Authority, Azerbaijan Fishfarm LLC, Azvarvara LLC, and other partner companies.
This event is particularly significant as the first mass fish release of the year and continues ecological activities aimed at restoring aquatic bioresources in the region.
Participants were provided with detailed information on biodiversity conservation, the role of sturgeon species in ecosystems, and sustainable management of aquatic bioresources. After the educational session, the practical phase was carried out and the fish were successfully released into the water basins.
This action is an important part of the country's efforts to restore aquatic bioresources and preserve biodiversity. The event is crucial both for environmental education and for supporting the population of rare fish species in the Caspian region.
