June 25 marks Ashura Day. It is observed on the 10th day of Muharram, the first month of the Islamic calendar.
Traditional blood donation campaigns are held in Azerbaijan. Organized by the State Committee for Religious Associations and the Caucasus Muslims Office, a campaign will take place this year as well.
Participants include the Ministry of Health, State Support Agency for NGOs, Youth Foundation, TABIB, Blood Bank, Institute of Theology, Spiritual Values Foundation, Baku Theological College, NGO Forum, Red Crescent, and Union of Volunteer Organizations.
The goal is to dispel misconceptions about Ashura and promote values of charity. Collected blood will be used for patients with hemophilia, thalassemia, and other illnesses.
Campaign locations: Baku, Fountains Square (10:00-16:00), Surakhani district, Javid settlement (11:00-15:00), Ganja city (11:00-15:00), Sumgait city (11:00-15:00), Lankaran city (12:00-16:00), Mingachevir city (11:00-15:00), Nakhchivan city (10:00-15:00), Sheki city (10:00-15:00).
