From January 1, 2024, travelers to Georgia must have mandatory travel insurance. The price depends on the trip duration. For a one-week trip, insurance costs about 12 manats (approx. $7).
Emil Aghabagirov, an expert from the Azerbaijan Insurers Association, stated that the policy provides $15,000 coverage, meeting Georgia's requirement of 30,000 lari.
The insurance covers medical services, accidents, illnesses, dental care, sunstroke, drowning, burns, fractures, injuries, colds, and COVID-19. Surgery, doctor visits, and medications are included.
Baggage loss is also covered. Death is excluded, but repatriation costs are covered. In case of an incident, call the hotline to be directed to a clinic. Medical services are free. If you pay yourself, you can get reimbursed with receipts.
Only a passport is required to purchase insurance.
