Turkey and Azerbaijan have jointly submitted a nomination to include baklava (pakhlava) on UNESCO's Intangible Cultural Heritage List.
The final decision is expected at the UNESCO Intergovernmental Committee meeting in Xiamen, China, from November 30 to December 5.
Turkish officials are hopeful for a positive outcome, which they believe will counter Greek claims over the dessert.
