A Turkish citizen, Metin Şare, claims he was scammed in Azerbaijan after sending nearly 67,000 manats to a woman he met for marriage.

Speaking to Baku TV, the 49-year-old said he transferred money to various people at the woman's request and then came to Azerbaijan. "I sold my house and car to come here. They showed me a house, and we agreed on 23,000 manats. After taking the money, they threatened me and told me to leave the country," he said.

The accused woman, Ayşe Orucova, denies the allegations, claiming Şare threatened her with a knife and demanded his money back.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs reported that Şare filed a complaint but later dropped it after receiving 1,300 manats from the other party.
