The Azerbaijan Writers' Union (AWU) has temporarily suspended accepting new members until 2027. AWU staff member Khayal Rza informed about this decision.
The decision was made by the union's admissions committee. According to Rza, after expelling poets and writers who hadn't paid membership fees for 5 years, there has been an increase in fee payments.
The annual membership fee is 15 manats. Late payments were demanded. New applications will only be reviewed after the congress scheduled for autumn 2027.
