The 13th session of the World Urban Forum (WUF13) kicks off today in Baku.
Organized by UN-Habitat and the Government of Azerbaijan, the forum runs until May 22.
Under the theme “Homes for All: Safe and Sustainable Cities and Settlements,” discussions will cover urban futures, sustainable development, climate challenges, and human well-being.
Over 42,000 participants have registered. Many world leaders and high-level officials will attend. Azerbaijan will host a Leaders Summit.
The first day features a ministerial meeting on the New Urban Program, and assemblies for women, local governments, communities, youth, and business.
Also, the Global Water Operators Partnership Alliance (GWOPA) meeting is held for the first time within WUF.
