Archaeologists have discovered evidence of ancient metallurgy, jewelry, and glass production on the eastern shore of the Caspian Sea in Kazakhstan's Mangystau region.
The city of Karakabak existed from the 1st to 6th centuries AD and served as a major craft and trade center. Excavations uncovered a collection of over 150 coins.
Among the finds are coins from Parthia, Byzantium, and China. Researchers believe a branch of the Silk Road passed through here.
