US President Donald Trump said the damage inflicted on Iran from the conflict could range between $1.5 and $2 trillion. He also stressed that no financial assistance is being considered for Tehran.
Oxu.Az reports that Trump made these remarks during a press conference on the outcomes of the G7 summit.
"They need investments because we have caused $1.5 trillion, maybe $2 trillion in damage. Someone will have to help them. There is no guarantee such help will come; perhaps neighbors will help a bit. But we are talking about a huge amount. Almost no one has that kind of money. However, we are not discussing any financial issues; that was false information," Trump said.
The US leader noted that halting the strikes allows for the restoration of shipping in the region. "If I had acted otherwise and bombed them for another four days, completely destroying them, I would have received negative reactions from the media. If we continue the bombings, cargo ships won't move. We are talking about $500-700 million daily," the US president added.
