Germany's Meteorological Service (DWD) has been recording temperature records for the third consecutive day.
On June 28, in the Brandenburg town of Koschen, thermometers hit 41.7°C.
Previous days also saw records: 41.3°C in Saarbrücken and 41.5°C in Drewitz.
Meteorologist Karsten Brandt says this is not the limit – temperatures could rise further.
The night of June 28 was the hottest night in German history: 29.4°C in East Saxony.
Vienna also broke a record: on June 28, the temperature reached 40°C. The previous record was 39.5°C in 2013.
In Torun, Poland, the temperature hit 40.3°C – the highest since 1921.
