The US will have to spend approximately $400 million to restore the infrastructure of its naval base in Bahrain, according to The Wall Street Journal (WSJ), citing a Pentagon assessment.
The base suffered significant damage from Iranian strikes between late February and June 2026. Over 10 buildings and two satellite communication terminals were destroyed. The US evacuated most personnel, leaving only a limited number of troops on site.
Washington plans to modernize the base, though some damaged facilities may not be rebuilt. Reconstructing equivalent buildings alone will cost around $400 million, excluding costs for enhancing defenses and clearing debris.
