The world's first farm for cultivated meat has started operations in Schiphol, Netherlands.
According to Oxu.Az citing NL Times, the facility does not involve animal slaughter.
Meat is grown in special bioreactors using samples taken from animal tissue. Temperature, nutrients, and oxygen levels are constantly monitored in the tanks.
Currently, the unit is in the testing phase. The province of South Holland has allocated €500,000 for the project.
It is noted that the sale of cultivated meat is still banned in the European Union. Farmers say this technology will not replace traditional livestock farming but will serve as an alternative activity.
Experts are testing the system to determine production costs and potential volumes. The meat farm is expected to be fully operational by 2028.
