Indonesia's Defense Ministry announced the suspension of a military training program for future agricultural leaders, initiated by President Prabowo Subianto.
The decision came after five participants died within the first two weeks of the 45-day program, which began on June 14.
About 35,000 people were involved. Deaths were attributed to cardiac arrest, heatstroke, tuberculosis, and pneumonia.
The Human Rights Commission had called for suspension. The new format removes military equipment and shooting drills, and significantly reduces physical exercises.
