Keeping lilac flowers in the bedroom can lead to serious health problems, including headaches, arrhythmia, and even vision deterioration.

Russian expert Tatyana Khrynova told RIA Novosti that lilacs should only be kept in well-ventilated rooms. Under no circumstances should they be placed in the bedroom, as the strong scent causes severe headaches.

Khrynova noted that lilac leaves and flowers contain a cardiac glycoside called syringin. This substance can disrupt heart rhythm, cause insomnia, and migraine-like pain. In rare cases, it leads to vision deterioration and decreased platelet levels.

The expert recommends placing lilacs on a terrace, in a living room near an open window, or on a balcony. This way, lilacs will beautify the environment without posing any health risks.
