Czechia is facing its largest measles epidemic in 30 years. According to official data, over 7,000 cases have been reported since the start of the year, and 4 patients have died.
The Czech State Health Institute reported that the number of infections in the first half of this year has already exceeded last year's total. The infection rate has doubled, rising from 5,000 to 7,000 cases.
The highest number of infections is recorded in the Moravia-Silesia region. The majority of patients are under 19 years old.
From January to June, about 670 cases were detected in the region, which is 200 more than in the same period last year.
