U.S. President Donald Trump announced that he has given Acting Director of National Intelligence Bill Pultie the authority to declassify any information.
Oxu.Az reports, citing TASS, that Trump made the statement to journalists at Andrews Air Force Base near Washington.
He noted that Pultie will serve in this position for a short time: "Bill will be in this position for a very short time. But I told him that while he is there, he can declassify anything he wants."
According to Trump, Bill Pultie will lead the National Intelligence for another month or two. The nomination of Jay Clayton, expected to be his permanent successor, will be considered by the Senate Intelligence Committee in two weeks.
It is noted that Bill Pultie began acting as Director of National Intelligence on June 19. He also serves as head of the Federal Housing Finance Agency and director of the mortgage agencies Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. Trump announced his appointment on June 2. This decision was criticized by the president's political opponents due to Pultie's lack of intelligence experience. Previously, this position was held by Tulsi Gabbard.
