Syria's High Committee for Parliamentary Elections has approved the list of new members for the transitional parliament. The first session of the People's Assembly is scheduled for July 6.
According to SANA, committee head Mohammad Taha Al-Ahmad said the list includes appointees by the president, such as families of fallen soldiers, released prisoners, chemical attack survivors, scientists, experts, and public figures.
Out of 210 seats, 21 are allocated to women. One-third of the assembly (70 members) was appointed by President Ahmed al-Sharaa, while the rest were elected indirectly by regional electoral colleges.
